Daniel M (4 out of 10 ) If you've seen DOA (Dead on Arrival) then you will be disappointed with this script. If you haven't then you will find this a unique concept. Unfortunately, it's not, and the shoot em up style of this script really strips away any seed of creativity or originality it could have contained. I nearly laughed out loud when the MC's (Main Character) 'cover' as a video game designer was blown. It's fitting because this movie reads like a video game. A bad one.
harry georgatos (2 out of 10 ) This is pretty standard out of control shoot 'em up video game. The concept is straight out "DOA" which was remade in the 60's as "Color Me Dead" and in the 80's also titled "DOA" with Dennis Quaid. Jason Statham is no Dennis Quaid. Still this is such an extradinary concept that with a director such as John Woo would have been an experience of over-the-top entertainment that would have become a cult classic. The studio responsible for "Crank" should have turned and developed this concept as high grade summer entertainment in the multiplexes, instead of giving us a straight to dvd entertainment.
Curry hates CRANK (1 out of 10 ) What a waste of time. Never been so dissapointed in my life, besides watching THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, these two films suck.
Anthony P. (10 out of 10 ) That movie was an instant classic in my book, I enjoyed it a lot as did all my friends. The action was intense and it was kind of funny too.
Maddywoo (10 out of 10 ) *after reading negative comments* wow, I'm not even gonna get into that but anyway this was a very great movie, the action was wonderful, Jason is the best action star ever! Sweet script as well
Wuut (1 out of 10 ) I felt like my eyelids were burning! I hate the screenplay most of all, because you couldn't possibly try to combine sex and violence at the same time and make it look good. The soundtrack is really weird because they play all this heavy music and some punk and then a country song in the middle of the scene where you see Chev going in a rage. And what's with the script? It's a bunch of profanities and a mad hit man trashing his TV when he finds out he's going to die. This movie was awful and I wouldn't even take a billion dollars to see it again.
David Shields (8 out of 10 ) I find it funny that so many people have so much negativity about this film when probably 99% of them have never attempted to write a screenplay or make a legitimate film in their lives. It's not nearly as easy as they might think, and honestly I found this film really visually invigorating, as well as a fresh concept. While I'll admit they could have done a little bit more with it, this was also Neveldine/Taylor's first film ever. Look how far they've come since then (Gamer anyone?) and you'll see that this was a great first attempt.
huf2much (10 out of 10 ) I too believe this to be a fun "let's make a movie with all the crazy shit we want to see in a movie" movie. A cult classic. But I must say CRANK 2 is way more out of control and awesome. And the MIKE PATTON score is the best. Go PATTON. Do more movies.
Hilbert (8 out of 10 ) Giving this movie a bad score is like going to McDonalds for a big mac and then getting angry because it doesn't taste like a steak. Pure porno. This movie is exploitation at his best. It has tits, male humor and a lot of killings. It's great.
Cameron (10 out of 10 ) This is one of my favorite Statham movies along with Crank 2 and the movie Safe, and Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are both great directors.
Cameron (10 out of 10 ) I love the Crank series, and I will say that Crank 2: High Voltage really blows this one out of the water.
3TH (4 out of 10 ) Awesome setting! Poor execution. I enjoy anything with enough vulgar humor and sex and violence. This one? Not enough. It wastes one too many times on justifying the premise and not-so-well-structured-crime movie. Instead of. Full time adrenaline joyride we were promised! It's like you call a hooker, and all she gives you is just a strip tease. Such a letdown. How could anyone make a boring movie with that setting?
